Spanx or Planks? Misquoted Bible Verses Part 2

Season #1 Episode #11

Context is king. What does this mean and how do we understand the context?

Can we ever read a verse alone and take it at face value, or do we always have to read the entire chapter/verse to extract meaning?

Matthew 7:1-5

Savor Moment:

Think about a verse that you have clung to and practice putting it into context. Grab your favorite drink and ponder the following questions.

1.Who is this written to?

2.What was happening in the community?

3.What type of literature is this writing?

4.We read the newspaper differently than a greeting card or a fiction book.

5.How would the audience have heard the words (cultural context)
